ABOUT MY SCHOOL

About KV Happy Valley Shillong

Kendriya Vidyalaya Happy Valley, under the umbrella of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the ministry of HRD opened its innings in the monsoon splendor of 1976 on 15th August. Today it stands fresh, vital and rejuvenated with the tremendous support and faith from parents, teachers and students. We are proud to say that we have completed 34 years of useful, glorious and dedicated service to the children and community at large.

The Vidyalaya was declared Model School on 27th Dec 2002 it added feather to its cap in 2003 when it was included in the Smart School list under the Smart School Project Scheme.

At present the Vidyalaya has the strength of 1340 students against the staff strength of 61. The Vidyalaya has three academic streams - Science, Humanities and Commerce at plus two stages. To provide the children a wider spectrum of the present high-tech society the provision of 'Informatics Practices' and 'Computer Science' based on Computer Technology is also included in the school curriculum. Computer Literacy programme has been introduced from class I onwards.

Keeping with the new policy of KVS, which puts stress on the learning process and is thus student oriented, the Vidyalaya is going all out to provide the facilities that would ensure the all-round personality development of the learners. That the Vidyalaya has been able to live up to its tasks can be clearly seen from the report of its achievements.
